The Chennai version of Corporate Crucible for 2010 started with an apt word of caution from the quizmaster Pickbrain that it would be one of the biggest Crucibles so far, given that Chennai is a huge quizzing hub. Close to a 100 teams from both Tata and Non Tata companies battled a well crafted prelim where some of the questions truly foxed all the teams. The prelim turned out to be a very close affair with over 10 teams missing the final by just one mark.

  • TCS: Tanuj Sethi and BVR Murthy
  • TCS: Sri Hari and Krishnakumar
  • TCS: Devi Prasad and Jayakanthan
  • TCS: Ramamoorthy and Nithin Naik
  • TCS: Balaji Muthu and Udayasooriyan
  • TCS: Shyam Sivaraman and Varun Kannan

  • Irevna : Ashis and Anil
  • Sanmar Group: Ramkumar Shankar and Kesari Prasad
  • Infosys: Sanandan and Arun Prasad
  • Madras Metallurgical: Gopal Kidao and Sankar

The Tata track was a very close final with Jayakanthan and Devi Prasad getting the better of Tanuj Sethi and Murthy in the final question of the quiz.

The non Tata track was full of twists and turns as a consistent Sanmar team that has qualified for every Crucible final since 2004 took the early lead only to witness Irevna, Cognizant, Wipro, Madras Metallurgical and Infosys to claw their way back as the first few rounds of the quiz moved quickly from one to another.

The round on lateral thinking was what set the teams apart as Madras Metallurgical pulled out some stunning answers to seemingly complex posers from Pickbrain to win their first ever title at Crucible. Team Irevna pulled back in the final round to inch past Infosys and Sanmar to emerge runner up.

Teams won themselves attractive prizes like DVD’s and watches from the Tatas over and above the cash prizes for the winner (Rs.75000/-) and runner up (Rs.35000/-)
