The western zonal of Tata Crucible was a battle of nerves with seven champions, all keen to make it to the national finale, resulting in immense pressure on all teams. The audience though were treated to an afternoon of amazing quizzing.
The final was a like a T-20 match with all teams getting onto the score board with the ‘runs’ they were scoring. The BITS and Sinhgad teams lost a lot of ground with negatives and could never recover from there. The ICAI team played carefully and scored only when they were sure, while the IIM Indore team looked in control from the word go, sure footed on all their strokes.
As the quiz progressed it was the duo from IIM Lucknow and the young Mumbai champions from DJ Sanghvi who posed a threat to the ICAI team, the former coming back from a negative to crack the penultimate question and set the stage for the final ball finish. However, they did not go for the final question and ICAI prevailed.
The quiz featured brilliant research by Pickbrain and his team, which was specifically appreciated by the large audience. A senior Mumbai quizzer from the corporate world even commented “It is three hours worth spent in life, when you attend a Tata Crucible”.
The guest of honour Mr. S. Padmanabhan Executive Chairman, TQMS, appreciated the teams and handed them their prizes. He also appreciated the corporates in the audience for their enthusiastic answering of questions.
