SAIL BSP takes Ranchi

Ranchi welcomed its first ever corporate edition of Tata Crucible with great enthusiasm and a high standard of quizzing that drew appreciation from one and all including the guest of honour.

The following six teams made it to the final from the prelim.

  • SAIL BOKARO: Anurag & Fazal Mohammed
  • PWC : Jaydeep Singh & Roshith Mehta
  • SAIL ROURKELA : SS Panda & Senthil Kumar
  • SAIL – BSP: Chandrashekar & Ramani
  • MECON : Rajnish Kumar & Sudhanshu Ashish
  • ISB & M : Gautam Ghosh & Sudeep Chatterjee

The final commenced with Price Waterhouse Coopers taking the early lead followed by the professors from ISB&M Ranchi. As the quiz progressed SAIL Rourkela and Bhilai began to catch up. The quiz progressed at a brisk pace and the battle got intense with every passing question and SAIL BSP moved into the lead.

The excitement went down to the final round where ISB & M came up with a stunning answer on the first question to move into striking distance of SAIL-BSP and the tension was palpable. On the second question which went down to the final clue SAIL BSP took the risk of a plus five against a minus ten and got it right.

This prompted Pickbrain to say ‘They understand the value of a plus 5 at a Crucible’ and it turned out to be so true as the final question saw SAIL Rourkela crack a 15 pointer but ISB&M had to settle for the second spot while SAIL-BSP moved into the national finals as the first Ranchi champions.

The teams received their prizes from Mr.Sushil Kumar Choudhary, Principal Secretary – Labour, Employement and Training, Govt of Jharkhand.
